Month Notes: March 2025
March 2025 Summary
I use Twos to track my life - what I've done each day, things I want to remember, to do lists, notes, links. I also use Dickie Bush's daily prompts which are saved as templates and inserted into my Today page.
- I had an interview at a local garden centre for a part time role. I wanted something outdoors and it sounded perfect as a job to sit alongside the other things I do and my part time farming. The interview got a bit hijacked as they started talking about my digital experience. Later I received an email saying they didn't think the role was for me.
- In much better news, Muffin, my cade lamb was successfully adopted by a ewe who lost her own lamb. I'd bottled fed Muffin at home in my potting shed. He'd been back at the farm for a few days and was settling in nicely but wasn't keen on his milk bar. I was topping up his feed with warm bottles. (He'd been spoiled at home!). Although he was 3-4 weeks old when the ewe lost her lamb, I thought it might be worth a try to see if she would accept him. Within a couple of days, they were both happy with each other and Muffin was feeding well. They spent some time in the orchard before going out into the field. Muffin and I had cuddles every day. We both adore each other.
- I started off some seeds in the potting shed once Muffin had returned to the farm. These will be planted out at the smallholding. We have purchased a polytunnel to help with the growing season.
- We had a few days away at one of our favourite places in the Derbyshire Dales. It's always relaxing and they look after us so well. The food is epic.
- Went with Phil the Farmer to a pedigree livestock sale. Spent most of the time talking to the farmers about their animals. There were some mega sized bulls and one in particular that I liked who was called Talisker.
Writing
- I started using Kortex which has replaced Obsidian, Notion and Tana for me. It's created by Dan Koe, a writer, as a tool for writers. I'm really liking it and it's helping me write more, as well as logging more ideas.
Reading
- To minimise scrolling, I started working my way through the Agatha Raisin series. It's not the best but a light hearted read. I don't think I'll read many more.
- Red Moon Passage by Bonnie J Horrigan: these is a recent acquisition mentioned by one of my podcast guests, Stacy Vajta
- Recipe for Life, Mary Berry: an autobiography of a UK cook and baker who is well known here.
Listening
- I queue up quite a few podcast episodes so that I can listen when I'm in the car. Lately, I've listened to Davina McCall and Richard E Grant, and am part way through Joe Rogan and Bill Murray.
- I also do audiobooks and am listening to Dan Koe, The Art of Focus.
Watching
Here in the UK, we don't a TV Licence which means we don't watch what used to be called Terrestrial TV or any live TV. We stopped watching those programmes years ago. We mostly watch Netflix and a few things on YouTube.
- We're on a re-run of The Big Bang Theory.
- This week we watched The Devil Wears Prada, which I hadn't seen in ages.
- Chris' taste in films and television can often be very different to mine so sometimes I go and do something else while he watching something that he likes. I could quite happily live without a TV.
